Outer Banks, NC? That's our vacation spot of choice.

Hi, Christina, my husband and I talk about doing a big trip like this while all the kids are young enough to *have to* come with us.

I'm glad to have found your blog via TPE mag.

I think we all have our own fast food horror stories, but this one makes me want to avoid them altogether, even when they try to lure me with their $1.00 "value" meals.

I enjoyed reading your blog partly because I hardly ever eat out. It reminds me of what people say about politics and sausage,(if you enjoy either don't watch them being made!) I still love to go out and eat, especially when I see people pray! our lives are our ministry to the world, we're supposed to be "in it" just not to be "of it" feeling hungry?

The Jamie Lynn Story grieves my heart. Seriously. It's one of the worst stories of the year. Comments like the ones that are quotes in this story show such a gross misunderstanding of parenting. Will she get to continue teeny bopping while a nanny comes to her aide during issues of colic, all-nighters, the flu, etc. Parenting is not all fun. "Joy" and "fun" are too very, very different things. I don't think that Jamie Lynn understands or feels the "joy" that you do, Christina. Jamie Lynn is having "fun" because she is playing house, and there's a grown-up behind her doing the real work. Meanwhile there are teen-agers around the country like you reported on last week making pregnancy pacts because of role models like Jamie Lynn. And the fall-out? The children who end up being raised by nannies, empty and hollow and just wanting to be loved by REAL parents. *sigh* ... at least these babies are getting fed and probably not physically abused ...

It's nice to see other parents who enjoy sharing their outdoor interests with their children. All too many times I see parents allowing their kids to consume mass amounts of soda and junk food. Maybe it's just me but allowing a 6/7 year old drink diet coke or pepsi just seems wrong. Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading more of your blog in the future.

Those are some scary statistics. It really makes me want to reach out more to my school and community. especially knowing my current high school use to be know as a "burn-out" school.
